The region of Cádiz, with 62.687 active companies in 2023, is one of the main business centers in Andalusia. The industrial sector in Cádiz, particularly in the Campo de Gibraltar area, plays an important role.
It is the second largest industrial center in Spain, with a significant economic impact and an outstanding presence of national and international companies in various sectors.

AERONAUTICS
The aeronautical sector will be one hundred years old in 1926 since it began to develop in Cádiz. It is a key economic pillar in the Spanish aeronautical industry and has a prominent presence in all major European aeronautical projects. Currently, more than 20 companies specialized in the sector are working in Cádiz and it is an outstanding global player in this field due to its specialization and export capacity.
Companies such as Airbus, Aernnov, and M&M maintain a high level of activity in the region. The area also has an aeronautical and aerospace technology center and a Center for Innovation in Aeronautical and Naval Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, connected to the university environment.
The development and promotion of the aeronautical industry is key for Cádiz. With this objective in mind, the region offers a series of incentives such as grants and subsidies to companies in the aeronautical sector for their internationalization and the implementation of Research and Development (R&D) projects.

NAVAL
Since 1717, with the first Arsenal of La Carraca, the region has maintained a direct relationship with the naval sector of Cádiz. Today, it is one of the leaders in shipbuilding in Europe. The sector in the region has significant growth prospects and has developed a broad productive fabric that concentrates high-level engineering companies specialized in different fields of design, construction and repair of all types of ships.
Thanks to Navantia, a leading public company, shipbuilding in the Bay of Cádiz has five competitive and specialized divisions with high added value: construction, ship repairs, systems (technology transfer to several countries), wind energy and life cycle support. In total, it generates 13,000 jobs.
The sector has important and qualified support and promotion programs for the attraction of companies. Among the incentives offered by the region are grants, subsidies and non-refundable loans focused on promoting research, development and innovation (R&D&I). Aid is also available to transform and digitize the industry, to train and develop professionals and to boost public exposure and positioning of the naval sector at international events.

The region has a petrochemical pole of reference for the Spanish economy and the largest refinery in the country is located in its territory, in San Roque. It also has the great advantage of having a flexible and efficient logistics system for the distribution of its products to local and international markets thanks to its geographical location.
Similarly, thanks to its strategic location and the climatic conditions of its territory, Cádiz is a point of reference and a leading territory in renewable energies, specifically onshore wind energy and, soon, offshore. The region's energy roadmap is also projected to the future of energy, and especially to green hydrogen, a field in which the first projects have already begun to be developed.
In this sense, Cádiz is committed to continue promoting the development of this sector by providing companies with different incentives, grants and subsidies for research and development of the productive fabric of the sector, as well as for the promotion of companies focused on renewable energies. In addition, the region offers plans and programs aimed at improving solvency, size and quality in the manufacture of chemical and agrochemical products to support innovation and the improvement of the value chain.

BLUE ECONOMY
Understanding the seas and oceans as engines of innovation and growth for sustainable and profitable economic development is the basis of the blue economy. The concept is based on understanding and imitating the functioning of nature following the principle of circular economy.
Cádiz has many of the necessary qualities that make it an excellent place for the development of industrial projects in this sector, as it has ideal climatic conditions. The abundant number of hours of sunshine per year and the permanent wind, essential for the generation of offshore wind energy, are indispensable conditions for the development of the sector.
The region is surrounded by 300 kilometers of coastline and therefore maintains a natural and constant relationship with the sea and its uses. In fact, it is already implementing support programs for the development of companies in this sector based on public-private collaboration. Among these initiatives is Incubazul, an incubator for business projects with a comprehensive acceleration program linked to the blue economy. Currently, there are 69 companies working, a third of which are already invoicing. It is financed with European and Spanish government funds.

In recent years, tourism in Cádiz has experienced sustained growth, with an increase in the number of visitors of 4.5% in 2022, reaching 3.2 million tourists per year. This growth is due to several factors, among which are the improvement of air connections, the promotion of new tourist destinations and the diversification of the tourist offer.
Cádiz stands out internationally as a destination with first class tourism projects within its different territories, but its future opportunities and potential are even greater. Tourist activity extends throughout the region, with special emphasis on coastal areas and urban enclaves with heritage value. In recent years there has been a gradual deseasonalization of the activity. AGRI-FOOD

In the agricultural sector, it is important to highlight viticulture, which has the worldwide recognition of three appellations of origin: Jerez-Xerez-Sherry, Manzanilla-Sanlúcar de Barrameda and Vinagre de Jerez. It is also the first exporting sector of the region and one of the first in Andalucia.
The long coastline of the region of Cádiz, as well as the agreements with third countries for the exploitation of its fishing grounds, favors its fishing production, making Cádiz the second region with the highest production in Spain.
